Welcome to Monticello! We are glad you are here and hope you will be a resident of Monticello for a long time. Please remember City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. until noon and 1 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., for business. We are closed from noon until 1 P.M. for lunch. Listed below are a few things about City Hall you may need to know.
If you are new to the area please be sure to visit our Visitors’ Center located next to City Hall. You will find information about the community.
Services available to you are electric, gas, water, sewer, garbage, and recycling.
You will notice that your meter is read about the same time each month. All utility bills are processed and mailed on the last working day of the month. These bills are due and payable by the 15th. If the 15th falls on a weekend you have the following business day until 5:00 P.M. All bills not paid by close of business on the 15th are subject to disconnect beginning on the 16th. Reconnect fees will be charged, if disconnected. All city meters are the property of the City of Monticello. In the event you should have trouble after hours, please call 706-468-6404 (Monticello Police) and they will assist you. Remember that tampering with City meters and theft of City services are crimes and fines may be imposed.
A compartmentalized recycling container is available for use by city residents. The container is located in the parking lot of the old sewing room at the corner of South Street and Funderburg Drive. Please deposit your sorted recyclables in the proper area of the container, and please, recycle.
City taxes are charged to all city property. If you own your home you should receive a tax notice late in October each year. All taxes are billed by the county.
